The Creativity Standards story kept growing this week, and it wasn’t the only thing sellers were talking about.

The mailbag is full of one topic

We ran a reader question Friday about mysterious listing removals, and honestly could have run ten more just like it. If there’s a single theme running through every seller group and forum thread right now, it’s confusion over what does and doesn’t count as “original” under the new Creativity Standards wording, and frustration that the appeals process isn’t live yet for anything removed before July 15. We don’t expect this to quiet down until Etsy actually opens that appeals channel.

Tariff anxiety is building, not just talk

More sellers who import beads, findings, fabric, or packaging from overseas suppliers are posting about rising costs this week, ahead of scheduled changes to how low-value imports get taxed at the border. Nothing has hit yet for most people, but the sourcing side of Etsy, jewelry in particular, is clearly bracing for it. A few shops mentioned placing larger-than-usual bulk orders now, before any new charges apply, to build a buffer of pre-tariff inventory.

A quieter update: shipping label pricing

Some sellers using Etsy Shipping Labels flagged small pricing adjustments on a few USPS service tiers this week. Nothing dramatic, but if you haven’t checked your shipping profiles in a while, it’s a reasonable moment to confirm your listed shipping charge still covers your actual label cost, especially on heavier items where small percentage changes add up.

Forum chatter: response time and Star Seller

A recurring complaint this week, unrelated to Creativity Standards: sellers reporting that Etsy’s message threading changes (multiple messages from one buyer now counting as a single conversation for response-time purposes) sometimes miscounts older messages, showing a lower response rate than sellers believe is accurate. If your Star Seller stats look off this month, it’s worth spot-checking a few flagged conversations manually rather than assuming the dashboard number is wrong on principle.

Marketplace note: competitor movement

A modest but noticeable amount of forum discussion this week about sellers testing Depop and Poshmark as secondary channels, mostly vintage and resale-adjacent shops looking to diversify beyond Etsy. Nothing that amounts to a mass migration, but worth watching if you’re in a category (vintage clothing, especially) where cross-listing is common practice already.

What we’re watching next week

Two things: whether Etsy says anything official about the Creativity Standards appeals timeline, and whether the tariff sourcing cost story moves from “sellers are worried” to “sellers are raising prices.” Both feel close to a tipping point.

See you Sunday.
