Three threads worth tracking this week: a review-prompt test showing up in seller accounts, a seller forum redesign that split opinion fast, and the first wave of back-to-school prep landing in our own guide queue earlier than usual.

A review-prompt test is circulating
Starting around July 20, sellers in a few Etsy forum threads and Facebook groups described a new or more frequent prompt asking buyers to leave a review after a purchase. Several said the nudge now appears earlier in the order-tracking sequence, before the estimated delivery window even closes, rather than only after. Etsy hasn’t announced anything formally, and nothing here reads like a finished feature rollout, more like one of the platform’s periodic quiet tests. A handful of sellers mentioned review counts ticking up slightly this week, but nobody posted numbers precise enough to call it a real pattern yet. Worth watching whether Etsy confirms the change in the coming weeks or lets it quietly revert, which has happened with similar tests before.
Forum redesign gets a mixed reception
Etsy’s seller forum went through a visual and structural overhaul this week, new category navigation, different thread layout, the kind of refresh that shows up every year or two. Reaction split about how you’d expect. Sellers who use the forum daily for troubleshooting said the new category structure buries older threads that used to be easy to find through search, and a few reported bookmarked links breaking outright. Others said the layout is cleaner once you relearn where things live. Nothing about this changes how the forum works day to day, just budget a short adjustment period if you’re hunting for a thread you saved before this week.
Back-to-school prep starts early
Our own guide queue turned toward back-to-school this week, earlier than we’d normally start. Shipping lead times on personalized items, monogrammed backpacks, name-tag sets, dorm decor, make late July the realistic cutoff if you want inventory ready before the August rush. We’ll be updating and adding seasonal guides through the middle of August as that push continues.
What we’re watching
Whether Etsy formalizes the review-prompt change or lets it fade quietly, whether the forum redesign gets a follow-up patch now that the first wave of complaints is in, and how fast back-to-school demand actually shows up in shop traffic this year compared to last.
That’s the week. See you next Sunday.
